‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert, Phillip Phillips, and … Justin Bieber?

We’re going to have a little bit of fun with our edition of “American Idol” notes this morning, but we are going to be starting things off with the absolute latest when it comes to the search for the next member of the judging panel — especially when it pertains to Adam Lambert.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Adam is still in the running to be a member of a judging panel that is almost certain to include both Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. One of the two male slots is set to be a country star (likely Keith Urban), and the final spot is still a little bit up in the air. Enrique Iglesias is heavily rumored to be a favorite for the seat, but Adam still has an outside chance at it.

The primary thing that surprises us the most when it comes to these rumors is that we haven’t really heard that Enrique actually has that much of an interest in joining the show — and if he does, is he really going to bring more of an audience than Adam? Regardless, we should find out some sort of official decision within the coming weeks.

Phillip Phillips to stop by “Ellen” – Just a matter of days after appearing on “The Today Show” and performing his coronation song “Home,” the reigning champ now has a brand-new gig on daytime television.

Thanks to a claim from Mjsbigblog, we have now learned that Phillip will appear on the September 14 version of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” To make matters all the more interesting, this same show is also going to feature Justin Bieber having tea with Sophia Grace & Rosie — the British siblings that have become a bit of an official mascot duo for the series courtesy of their wild sense of humor and antics with celebrities.
