Casting notes: ‘Modern Family,’ ‘Person of Interest,’ and Chris Bosh on ‘Go On’

With there being so many casting announcements happening right now in the world of TV, we’re have a number of them to share in this one handy article for your reading pleasure.

Modern Family – Shelley Long is coming back! According to TV Guide, the actress is set to appear in one episode of “Modern Family” season 4 as the mother of Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Claire (Julie Bowen). No details are available at this time, but executive producer Steve Levitan did have the following to say to the website:

“We have a very funny story for her … You will not be disappointed.”

“Person of Interest” – On the fifth episode of the show’s second season, “White Collar” star Gloria Votsis will appear in a role that is largely under wraps, though we do know that she will be playing some sort of reporter hot after a story.  Votsis has appeared on a number of hot shows over the past few years, including “Hawaii Five-0” and “Suburgatory.”

This is a smart move for Votsis, mostly since we are predicting that “Person of Interest” will be the breakout show of the season this fall.

“Go On”The Hollywood Reporter confirms that NBA champion and Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh will cameo in an upcoming episode of the Matthew Perry rookie comedy as himself. This role follows that of NFL superstar Terrell Owens, who made a brief appearance in the pilot to make Perry’s sports-show host character a little bit more believable. Based on what we have seen of Bosh over the years, he actually has enough of a sense of humor in order to pull this off.
