For the first time since her husband Chad Johnson’s arrest on domestic violence allegations earlier this month, “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada is finally speaking out about what happened — and also where she sees her relationship with the football star heading in the future.
In an interview that will air in full Friday night on “Nightline,” Lozada did admit that she will always have feelings for Johnson, but that this is not enough for the two parties to stay together now or reconcile a some point in the near future:
“It would have to take some time. I love him very much and I think that being away from each other is the right thing. What is he going to say, ‘sorry’? … I would like for him to tell me that he is working on himself … I want the best for him, I really do. He’s a good guy who made a bad choice that destroyed his life. I hate that I’m connected to that, I do — but it was hit choice. It wasn’t mine.”
The ramifications of this incident have already been enormous for both parties. Johnson was promptly released by the Miami Dolphins the day after the arrest, and he has yet to land a job with another team while also losing at least one endorsement deal. Meanwhile, Evelyn is set to divorce him — despite their marriage barely lasting month and a half — and VH1 made the decision to not air their planned reality series “Ev & Ocho” despite the entirety of it, including their wedding, already being filmed.
