If there was one reason why so many people fell in love with Heather Morris’ character on “Glee” to begin with, it was because the character was so easy to laugh at in between her quirky personality and hilarious one-liners. Since that time, they have been able to develop the character further and even place her in a relationship first with Artie (Kevin McHale) and more recently Santana (Naya Rivera).
So what’s the story going to be like for Heather moving forward? Based at least on the upcoming Britney Spears tribute episode, we are going to have an opportunity to see more comedy from the actress than we saw through much of season 3. In an interview with TVLine on this very subject, here is what executive producer Brad Falchuk had to say:
“Brittany (Heather Morris) is having some troubles and Will (Matthew Morrison) and Emma (Jayma Mays) come up with a plan to [cheer her up] … [however, this] backfires in a very bizarre way.”
The last time we saw a Britney tribute episode, it ended up with the members of New Directions trying to perform “Toxic” in front of the entire student body — and rather than it ending up being thoroughly entertaining, we instead saw a number of characters in the auditorium shocked and offended. Here’s to hoping this year yield a better result — or at least one stuffed full of laughs.
This Britney tribute (which is being used as a way to cross-promote with “The X Factor” airing before it) is the second episode of the season, and will air on Thursday, September 20 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. Out of the songs that are meant to be featured “Oops, I Did It Again” and “Gimme More” have both been heavily rumored.
