The “X Factor” hosting rumors just will not stop — and really at this point, it just seems as though the same few names are being regurgitated for no reason other than to continuously drum up publicity.
So what’s the newest claim being tossed around the internet? According to a new report via Showbiz Spy, “Glee” star Kevin McHale, who has been attached to a number of rumors concerning the show as of late, and Kelly Osbourne are currently the two favorites to land the gig. No one from within the Fox camp (or the two personalities themselves) are commenting on the rumors, but this actually does make sense for a number of reasons.
-Kelly is of course the daughter of one Sharon Osbourne, who was a judge on the British “X Factor” for many years prior to her joining “America’s Got Talent” (which Simon also producers). He’s clearly a major friend of the family, and Kelly is smart, funny, and has experience courtesy of “Fashion Police.”
-As for McHale, it’s pretty simple — his booking would be great cross-promotion. “Glee” airs after “The X Factor” every week, and he is already a big fan of the show, having attended a taping last year along with co-star Damian McGinty. Getting him would hopefully bring some more “Glee” fans over, and Fox already knows him well from the Teen Choice Awards. The only concern we have is that many of the segments he had on that show were a tad awkward, and producers may be looking for someone more commanding.
