For our Thursday edition of “American Idol” notes, we are going to start things off with the latest Billboard news with Phillip Phillips — and by the end of this, we have the promise of some new music from Lee DeWyze soon.
Where is “Home” now? – After spending two weeks in the top ten (the most success a reigning champ has had with a coronation song easily since David Cook’s “The Time of My Life”), Phillip Phillips has now fallen back to earth a little bit with the song that received a ton of exposure during the Summer Olympics in London.
This week, the acoustic-heavy track has slid down to #23, which is still a respectable position. As a matter of fact, most songs relying on a surge of digital sales would have dropped further — but what has helped Phillip out here is that the song picked up some radio airplay during all of this hype, and that has kept the drop from being as massive as it would have otherwise been.
Carrie Underwood hypes her tour – The following news also comes to us from Billboard, and it makes us particularly excited when it comes to the prospect of having a tour that actually varies some from night to night — something that we have also seen to an extent recently when it comes to Kelly Clarkson covering a different song evey show.
When it comes to Carrie Underwood, she claims that one of the big changes she is planning for her summer “Blown Away” tour comes in the form of clothing:
“[There will be a] lot of very dramatic costume changes. No two shows will be the same as far as what I wear and when I wear it. I like to have options.”
Coming soon from Lee DeWyze… – We are going to have some sort of new video! In a post on his Twitter account late last night, he promised that a performance of a new song would be uploaded soon. We’re currently waiting on it, but be sure to check back to this space whenever it is online.
