If there is one reason why the ratings this summer have us so stressed out at the moment, it’s simply because we are starting to worry that “So You Think You Can Dance” could see its run on TV end after nine seasons thanks to the numbers that it has been pulling in as of late. So is the end for the dance competition really here? Not necessarily, and at least the latest figures give us some hope.
After falling almost every week since before the Olympics even happened, the two-hour show Wednesday recovered in scoring a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic — which is still not great, but it is an increase of a tenth from last week. Really, there is a major part of us that is just hoping that the show will get another season without the Olympic (and 4th of July) interruptions, and it will be given two nights a week again versus the one that has jammed everything together. (We just don’t know the contestants as well this year.) Doesn’t the show deserve one more shot for season 10?
Elsewhere, it was a pretty good night for all summer shows. “Big Brother 14” set a new Wednesday high for the season with a 2.3, and this came close to “America’s Got Talent” posting a 2.5 — making this a rare case where the results show actually drew the same rating as the performance show. This is the best number for the talent competition on Wednesdays since June, and it is one of the few bright spots in a season that has been a ratings disappointment at times.
Do you think “So You Think You Can Dance” deserves one more people, and do you think it’s almost sad how people are cheering The CW for “Oh Sit!” drawing a 0.4 rating at this point?
