Thanks to the results show Wednesday night for “America’s Got Talent,” we know who three of the acts are who are going to be performing during the season finale next week. The biggest shocker? Not a single one of them was a singer.
The show used an unusual format this week — rather than announcing the for-sure finalists during the show, they instead picked a top four and then narrowed it down to three at the very end.
Joe Castillo – We weren’t sure if the sand creations from Joe were going to be enough for him to make the top 4 this time around, but wee were wrong — and thus, we reminded that this was the year of the variety act.
William Close – In earning this spot, William beat out a man in Andrew De Leon who we thought at one point was going to win this whole show (at least before the judges suddenly started getting hard on his last night). Out of these four, William does have the best shot at winning just when it comes to his ability to entertain and do something new every week.
Todd Oliver and Irving – Really? Over the Academy of Villains and Donovan and Rebecca? Maybe we just don’t get Todd’s humor — he is funny, but he is not exactly the sort of thing we would pay for.
Tom Cotter – The best comedian in the show’s history is now another step closer to success. Tom was so funny last night, and what made his act even better was the fact that he had Howie Mandel choose his material.
So who ended up advancing? It was hardly a shock seeing William and Tom get the green light first, and the judges then had to vote between a ventriloquist and a sand artist. The verdict? Joe advanced, much to the chagrin of Todd’s biggest fan Howard Stern.
