For an episode that is going to be all about attending the show’s version of Comic-Con, “Castle” apparently wants to make sure that they bring in someone who has a little bit of first-hand experience.
According to a report from TVLine, Jonathan Frakes — a veteran of the “Star Trek” universe (which of course yields to all sorts of convention appearances) — is set to direct an episode that will feature Castle and Beckett entering a world of science fiction that is certainly going to feel rather unfamiliar to them. As for the actors themselves, though, that is an entirely different story — even though Stana Katic has some experience at conventions, she is not on the same level of the Comic-Con legend known as Nathan Fillion. In between “Firefly” and some of his other projects since, he is one of those actors (along with Zachary Levi) who really just seems to feel at home talking about superheroes and the latest graphic novels.
This will be the second episode of “Castle” that Frakes has taken the helm of, as he also did the season 2 installment known as “Kill the Messenger” — therefore, there is some familiarity with the cast to go along with the familiarity for the subject matter. It’s unclear when this episode will air, but it is not one of the first three that are out of the gate beginning with the season premiere on Monday, September 24 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.
