‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert, Haley Reinhart, Clay Aiken
For our Wednesday morning edition of “American Idol” notes, we are kicking things off first and foremost with the latest about Adam Lambert’s interest in joining the season as a judge next season It’s a bit of a retread in the sense that he’s talked about it a number of times as of late … but isn’t it still exciting?
In a new interview with MTV Australia, the season 8 alum said that he has still not heard whether or not the gig is happening, but he did explain why he would be so interested in giving it a shot of it is offered to him:
“When the idea first came up and the conversations first started I was like ‘this would be the craziest full circle moment wouldn’t it?’
“I would love the opportunity to help contestants out in achieving their dreams and reaching their goals, knowing what it takes to go through the show and how stressful and kind of how wild and bizarre it all is. I think it would kind of help them to have someone on the panel who has been right where they are.”
At the moment, we still think Adam is probably a long shot, only because the male names that are getting the most attention at the moment are Keith Urban and Enrique Iglesias. However, it’s impossible to really rule him out at the moment — and the fact that Nick Jonas is helping out Demi Lovato on “The X Factor” right now might give him more of an opportunity.
Haley Reinhart’s Michael Jackson problem – We are starting to have a feeling that the Jackson 5 hit “I Want You Back” might be one of the most deceptively hard songs out there for an artist to cover. We heard Janet Devlin botch the lyrics on the British “X Factor” last year in a live performance, and now Haley Reinhart has done the same exact thing.
Our heart goes out to Haley after watching this. (Video via TMZ.)

Clay Aiken vs. John Rich – This fight actually goes back more to “The Celebrity Apprentice” than “American Idol” in some ways, as Rich ultimately met and spoke with the season 2 runner-up on Donald Trump’s reality show earlier this year. However, they are now in the middle of a nasty war of words over a message that Rich felt had racial implications:
“Playing drinking game with my brother now. We drink every time we see a black person on screen at the RNC convention #soberasamormon.”
Rich went on to blast Aiken for having a charity about “inclusion” while he makes comments like these; meanwhile, Aiken stuck to his guns and said that he feels that the Republican party (which held its convention this week in Tampa) is far too narrow-minded when it comes to the people that represent it.
We could go on here for a while here, but there’s no point — what you need to know is that John feels that Clay was being responsible, and that Clay is not backing off his comment.

TMZ are scumbags, I don’t know how any of the people that work there can look in the mirror and feel good about themselves. It is so unfair of them to ridicule Haley when she wasn’t scheduled to perform and was literally pushed on stage at the last minute with no warning! I bet the person who forced her up there planted the cameraman in the audience so they could sell the video to TMZ and make a quick buck. Sad. At least Haley learned who not to trust in the future.

This is the right site for anyone who wants to understand this topic.
You understand so much its almost hard to argue with you (not that I personally will
need to HaHa). You definitely put a new spin on
a topic which has been written about for a long time.
Wonderful stuff, just excellent!

Why do religious people on twitter claim to love Jesus and follow his ways, and yet at the same time they show hatred toward you. And those who follow Michael Jackson for instance, they loved him, but show disregard for the very things he stood for. He was a highly religious man, no matter what his denomination was. MJ left a lot of messages in his songs, and yet no one is hearing them. If people try to sing one of his songs, with or without knowing the lyrics, MJ’s fans jump all over them, when they themselves have not proven that they know the song any better. When you bounce on someone for flubbing a song, you don’t realize the hurt you cause, and the wrong you have done. Was this Michael’s way? Some of you say that Michael is looking down on you from Heaven. Well then, is he proud of you, do you think. MJ inspired people to try to dance and sing the best they could, and he enjoyed watching them learn. Is he really your inspirational. Has he really taught you anything. I think that you have not learned from the one you claim to love so much. You have shown ignorance toward those who try to learn his songs, and I think he would have been proud to know the one you have ridiculed and tormented on the internet.

I totally AGREE with @RedRoseQueen1 … ADAM is the BEST contestant to ever appear on AI! Not only can he sing/entertain like no one else but he has first hand experience that he can impart to the contestants to help them stay on the show for a longer run. Plus he speaks with eloquence … instead of just stringing one cliche after another in his critique of each performance & he won’t be harsh or condescending … just HONEST!! ADAM is the perfect choice for judge … IMO!!

Adam would be the BEST possible choice for Idol judge, EVER. Period. End of story. If he’s a “long shot” that only says something about Idol’s producers/execs. And not anything good either. I hope they do the wise thing.
Adam “broke” it in Season 8 by being the BEST, most “ready right now” and aware contestant in the history of the show….Now allow him to help “fix” it by gracing our televisions with his presence twice a week! Ratings will rocket!

Politically speaking, I’m sick of all of them. I am writing in Adam Lambert for everything I can vote for.
I’m still sticking with my prediction that Adam will be a judge and the deal was inked a while ago. We are just waiting for the big announcement. Adam will be the tie breaking judge and I think Idol will be giving the judges more power.

Some of MJ’s followers apparently forget who he was. The man was a singer, and he was highly religious, not a judge. If you were not there, then you do NOT have all the facts about the events. There was a comedian there who made some tweets, and unkindly ones at that. He may be one of those involved with giving the story to TMZ. Before the TMZ news, there were no other persons writing about this on the internet, and if there was, then it was that they themselves enjoyed the night and the talents of all involved. You don’t Haley Reinhart, nor do you know that she cares about the world as much at Michael Jackson did.

Sean you are so off base. How do you know he’ not in the running? Are you related to producers?

I think Adam has a real shot not a long shot at the judges spot. Just maybe that’s what producers want us to think. He’s the best possible choice for the job. He has experience being a contestant and can offer constructive criticism that they can relate to. Not the same ole blah blah blah syrupy talk that ST, JL and others have given. After all this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these young ppl to be seen by millions and anything positive or neg that judges can offer could make or break their chances of getting a recording contract. All I can say is please do not make Nicki Minaj a judge. I can’t even stand looking at her as she looks like a scary cartoon character. Protect your children.

Still hoping and praying Adam has shot at being the next AI judge. He will definitely add to the show due to hands-on experience as a former contestant, an extremely sharp intellect, charm and personality, and most of all REAL objective judging which will HELP the contestants not hinder them. Please GOD, no Nicki Minaj.. please..!

I have always respected and admired Clay Aiken. He’s a true gentlemen, UNISEF Ambassodor, Founder of his Inclusion Charity for children with disabilities, awesome player (IMO the BEST) for Celebrity Apprentice, and a highly talented vocalist/entertainer. John Rich was clearly in the wrong and unjust in blasting him during the ‘so-called’ intervew during the finalists round of CA. Clay stuck to his guns and came out above expectations. GO CLAY..!!

I never could stand Clay Aiken. He’s a big mouth who has never learned to keep his mouth shut. There’s a reason why he has so few fans nowadays. He’s totally out of the music business now that his career has totally tanked and now he’s trying for political statements. Shut up Aiken. Just Shut up!

Well, being a Republican, it seems to me Democrats failure to respect a differing opinion on anything could be characterized as narrow minded. Personally, I respect everyone’s right to an opinion and don’t feel the need to assign negative labels to them.

Regarding Haley’s performance in the video above, here is a Tweet from Alec Quinn who is the Co-Creator of Sunday Nights at the W and current Director of Entertainment at Brite Promotions.
His Tweet:
“@TMZ – @HaleyReinhart came as a guest & was asked to sing. She gave a gutsy impromptu performance & received a standing ovation #thetruth”

Well, I certainly agree with the republicans being way too narrow-minded!

To MJ fans: Haley Reinhart has the whole planet talking about
her, and for what … a song most would probably flub
themselves. It was obviously an unrehearsed moment, unlike
this. She has the power and the voice to please millions, but most refuse to
pay attention to what she is about. Before you get critical of
her version of Earth Song, compare it to MJ’s and you might
see that she tried her darnedest to do it justice. On the bright
side, your complaining is only promoting her. By the way, here
is what Haley does unrehearsed and she gets an invite to
Carnegie Hall.
