If you loved “The Avengers,” then you are probably going to love this — ABC is bringing one of the biggest organizations from Joss Whedon’s version of the Mavel universe to the small screen (at least so long as the pilot pans out).
According to a report from Deadline, the network has ordered at least one episode of a series all about S.H.I.E.L.D. — which is otherwise known as the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. In the movies, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is one of men responsible for this group — however, it’s still to be seen just what his involvement with this series would be.
For those curious on some finer details, Whedon will direct the pilot, and the series will be written by himself, his brother Jed Whedon, and also Maurissa Tancharoen. There is also another interesting detail here when it comes to the character of Maria Hill — if producers want to bring her over to this show badly, is it possible that this could spell the end for her time on “How I Met Your Mother”? We don’t know the state of the cast’s negotiations for season 9 just yet, and it is possible that this could indeed by the last year for the comedy despite some claims that CBS would like to keep it around until May 2014.
For those of you dying for more news here, you better get settled in for what is probably going to be a long wait. The earliest we will likely see this show is the fall of next year, and it could be later than that if producers decide the project needs more time, or if they want Smulders badly and she wants to see “How I Met Your Mother” through for nine seasons first.
Does this show already have you excited — even though you have yet to see a single frame of it? If you want to find out more about how Disney played a role in all this, pay a visit to the link here.
