We already know that the likes of Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift are going to be making their presence felt in a big way at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards — and now, we now know of another young female artist who is going to be making an appearance during the pre-show festivities.
MTV announced Tuesday that during their show beginning at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday, September 6, newly-appointed “X Factor” judge Demi Lovato is going to stop by for a performance. If we had to guess, we would imagine that she is going to sing her recent smash hit “Give Your Heart a Break” — but we also would not be shocked in any way if she decided to debut a new single from her recent album “Unbroken.” (“Give Your Heart a Break” is the follow-up to “Skyscraper,” which became a powerful anthem last year.)
MTV is taking a pretty big risk with the VMAs this year in opting to move them from Sunday night Thursday — something that may be done in order to avoid the busy fall TV schedule, which also contains another major awards show in the Emmys. MTV may also be aware that thanks to the “Jersey Shore” franchise, Thursday is one of their most-popular shows on the air. They are also bringing back a host for the show in Kevin Hart one year after not having a host at all.
