Another director!

In what may be news that makes some “The Hunger Games” fans even more excited about the upcoming film, we now have reports that director Gary Ross is getting some rather prestigious help on the film’s North Carolina set — acclaimed “Ocean’s Eleven” director Steven Soderbergh.

Ross says that Soderbergh has come on board the much-anticipated project to help as a second-unit director, and he is more than excited to have him on board:

“It’s true he’s shooting two days of second unit. He’s one of my best friends and we all help each other a little bit on these things.”

Ross also confirmed that he has already wrapped up shooting a large percentage of many of the movie’s more intense action scenes:

“We’ve already done a lot of action-y stuff. We’ve burned down a forest, we’ve had the fire sequence, we blew up this pyramid of stuff that went 150 feet up in the air, and we had suitcases flying over a quarter of a mile.”

Stay tuned — we are going to have more on “The Hunger Games” throughout production — and especially leading up to the movie’s arrival in theaters next year.
