It’s strange to see how much “Teen Mom” has evolved in just four seasons — after what at first was just a niche series in “16 & Pregnant” that was meant in some ways to be a cautionary tale for young people, this series has become one of the biggest reality hits for MTV in years. We have come to know the original cast (Farrah Abraham, Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, and Amber Portwood) pretty well, but on Tuesday night it is going to be time to say goodbye.
As a way for the network to preserve the “teen” in the show’s title, the flagship version of the series is ending Tuesday night with a 90-minute finale that should hopefully give us some idea as to what direction some of these lives are going. Unfortunately, we already know that not all of it is positive — Portwood has been in prison for almost all of 2012 stemming from some probation violations, and there is no indication that she is going to be out anytime soon. (In other words, the rehab didn’t stick.) Everyone else seems to be doing somewhat better — Maci has been getting her future plans set up, and Farrah recently published a memoir about her experiences losing Derek before her daughter had an opportunity to grow up.
While this series is ending Tuesday, the legacy will live on — we will have a chance to catch up with the ladies (or at least three of them) with the reunion special hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky next week, and there is still “Teen Mom 2” and an upcoming “Teen Mom 3” to look forward to.
Are you planning to watch the finale, and has there been anything you have learned from watching this show? If you want to check out some more news in particular about what Farrah has been up to as of late, be sure to head on over to this link.
