Katie Couric’s talk show (simply entitled “Katie”) is set to debut on Monday, September 10, and the show has just released part of the lineup of guests that we can expect to see during some of the show’s early days.
For the first program, the first major guest is going to be someone who has made plenty of headlines when it comes to her interviews over the years — “Fashion Star” mentor Jessica Simpson. This appearance will be especially notable in that Simpson has been trying to lose weight ever since giving birth to daughter Maxwell Drew earlier this year, and she has been trying to stay out of the public eye for a big reveal. Meanwhile, the fist musical guest is set to be Sheryl Crow, who will perform the theme song “This Day” for the show in front of the studio audience.
While there are not any firm air dates for some of the other guests currently announced to be a part of the show, some of the other guests coming up in the first three weeks include the likes of Demi Lovato, Sofia Vergara, “50 Shades of Grey” author E.L. James, Susan Sarandon, Heidi Klum, Chelsea Handler, and fellow daytime talk show host Wendy Williams.
“Katie” has already proven to be a big tentpole for ABC (who is mostly airing the show) this coming fall — it will be joining a lineup that includes “The Chew” along with the network’s only daytime drama in “General Hospital,” and they have invested a great deal of money in promotion ever since the host stepped down as anchor of the CBS Evening News.
