Now that the fifth season of “True Blood” is officially over, there is now really one thing left to do — sit back and speculate as to what is going to be coming up a little bit later down the road.
So what are we going to see from Bill Compton next? While there are a number of cliffhangers out there (the fate of Luna, Pam and Tara getting together), easily the biggest mystery at the moment revolves around Stephen Moyer’s once-humble vampire becoming what is in many ways a vampire god after drinking all of Lilith’s blood during the finale. Speaking to TVLine in a new interview, Bill balked at the idea, though, that Bill was dead for sure following the transformation:
“I don’t think so … One of the things I wanted to do was show fear in Bill’s eyes. Show that he’s absolutely clear that what he’s doing is the right thing until it starts to happen, and then we see the vulnerability in him of, ‘F–k, what have I done?’ And that was something I hope comes across. We [wanted] to freakin’ terrify the audience.
” … I haven’t seen anything for next season so I have no idea [what is coming up] … I think it would be safe to assume that what we thought was Bill is no longer Bill.”
When you consider that not even Sookie and Eric could convince Bill not to drink the vial, the one question we really have to ask now is just whether or not the vampire really even wants to return to his normal form now that he has become so much more powerful. We don’t know what the rules necessarily are when it comes to this, though, and it could be more complicated than we would initially think (and not necessarily a great thing for Bill).
