‘True Blood’ finale reaction: Alan Ball talks Bill, Luna, and season 6

There’s little question that Sunday night’s new episode of “True Blood” was full of surprises, and we saw everything from some surprising deaths (Russell, Salome), Bill ascending into vampire godhood, and even Pam and Tara kissing each other within the walls of the Vampire Authority.

So what does outgoing showrunner Alan Ball have to say about some of these changes? In a new interview with TVLine, he explained that we are going to see a slightly different side to Stephen Moyer’s vampire that who he was previously — and it’s not entirely unclear whether or not he can return to his old form:

“It is Bill, but it is a transformed Bill. He is not a completely new person. It’s not like his memories or his experiences have been left out and he’s just a baby.”

Ball would not say whether or not Luna is going to live or die — but since Janina Gavankar has booked a new part on “The Goodwin Games,” we’re a little bit skeptical. He also explained that Russell is for sure dead and was only going to appear in flashbacks moving forward on the series.

Finally, Ball said that the story of Warlow — the vampire who was responsible for the death of Sookie’s parents — is going to be something that played a significant role in season 6. Also, we will see plenty more of Tara and Pam, and that he wants to bring back Steve Newlin in some capacity next year (even a small one) if the series is renewed.
