‘American Idol’ notes: Katy Perry, Adam Lambert, Lee DeWyze

When it comes to “American Idol” lately, we’ve spent a good bit of time talking about who is going to be a judge on the upcoming 12th season — this time around, though, are focus is more on who is not going to be on the panel.

Katy Perry says no – For those of you who thought that the show is going to really going to cut costs this coming season more than do anything else, just take a look at the salary they were apparently offering Katy Perry earlier this summer.

According to TMZ, producers behind the hit Fox series were offering the “Teenage Dream” singer a shocking $20 million to take part in this coming season … but she said no, and it wasn’t because of the money. Not only is she too busy for the gig, but she simply doesn’t need the platform at this point in her career. She’s already one of the biggest stars on the planet, and she can make that much money doing other things.

Here’s the interesting part of this story — Mariah Carey has still had more #1 hits over the course of her career (even if Katy had more from one album), but she is making $18 million. Let this just be further evidence that in this business, timing is everything.

Adam Lambert’s Australian Q&A – This video is a couple of days old, but for those of you who haven’t seen some of Adam’s publicity tour Down Under this week, it’s still fun to watch him interact with some people who care about him the most– the fans. Most of this may feel familiar to those of you who have watched multiple videos of Adam over the years, but it’s still fun.

A new Lee DeWyze video – Finally, be sure to check out a recent video of Lee DeWyze performing an acoustic version of “Flower Child.” It’s not a brand-new song by any means, but we love how this version makes it feel brand-new.
