Over the course of the past week, “The Bachelor” executive producer Mike Fleiss has made a pretty big fuss over a meeting that he was having Friday with ABC executives to determine just who should be the star for the upcoming season. All parties involved know how important choosing the right person is — this is the reason why Emily Maynard’s season flourished, and why Ben Flajnik’s selection of Courtney Robertson was a ratings disappointment.
With this in mind, should you really be stunned that there is still no official decision? In a post on Twitter following the meeting, here is what Fleiss had to say:
“No decision was made at today’s network meeting. Hopefully, we will have an answer next week. Fan opinions playing a big role!”
At this point, most fans seem to be divided between Sean Lowe and Arie Luyendyk Jr. from Emily’s season — both came across well, have plenty of adoring women talking about them, and could have a story that would work well with the show. In some ways, a seasons starring Sean makes sense when it comes to him being the sort of down-to-earth guy that the producers would love to have — however, haven’t they already done the story of the big-hearted Texan looking to find someone? At this point, Arie seems from this standpoint to be the more interesting choice given his profession and getting an interesting sort of story to follow the up.
Yes, there are still other candidates, but talk about Roberto Martinez has faded a little bit in the past few weeks thanks to what Sean and Arie are bringing to the table. Meanwhile, Ryan Lochte’s partying ways in Las Vegas recently may also make him a little less of a serious candidate in that he seems more interested on enjoying himself rather than finding love at the moment.
