When we were looking at possibilities for fairy tale characters to appear on “Once Upon a Time” season 2 earlier this summer, one group of names that we decided to leave off altogether was the “Peter Pan” world for one main reason — the show, at least according to a myriad of reports, did not have the necessary rights to the characters in order to make it happen.
However, it appeared as though the game changed a little bit earlier when we first heard the announcement that notorious Peter Pan adversary Captain Hook was going to emerge in one of the early episodes this season — and could be around for a sizable arc as one of the most notorious villains waging war inside of Storybrooke. Does this mean that Pan is far behind? It’s certainly possible, since co-showrunner Edward Kitsis confirmed to show site Once Upon a Fan that the series now has the rights to use every character that they want from the world of Neverland — including of course Pan himself.
So will the character turn up at some point during season 2? To be honest, we would surprised if Peter Pan never turned up, given just how popular the part is in the world of fairy tales. Plus, how can you have Captain Hook without at some point introducing the protagonist to his antagonist? He may be one of the only people who is able to stop the famed pirate’s reign of terror — at least once and for all.
Colin O’Donoghue will be playing Hook through at least four episodes of season 2 — so now, we just have to sit around to see whether or not he will have some company.
