LeVar Burton hints at return to ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ NBC’s ‘Community’

Back in 2011, there was a moment on “Community” that still may go down as one of the greatest in the show’s history — and that really is saying quite a bit when you consider some of the greatness that has come from this cast. During the mockumentary-style episode set at a hospital, we saw Pierce Hawthorne attempt to “bequeath” Troy with a gift of meeting his longtime idol LeVar Burton. The problem? Troy never really wanted to meet LeVar — he just wanted a signed picture of him. (At the bottom of this article, you can also check out another fantastic clip featuring the “Reading Rainbow” theme song — with some tears included.)

Now, it looks like we could be seeing the return of LeVar on the show during season 4. While at a Fan Expo Q&A with fans Friday, here is what the actor had to say:

“It was probably the most fun I had in 2011 … DonaldĀ GloverĀ is so talented, the man is ridiculously talented. Did you know the man used to write for ’30 Rock’? … You didn’t hear it from me, but rumor has it there will be another LeVar Burton sighting this year on ‘Community.'”

Is if this scoop was not glorious enough on its own, Burton also claimed that he “got a call on Friday about [his] availability for another episode of ‘The Big Bang Theory.'” While this may not necessarily be confirmed yet, we have a hard time thinking producers would call up Burton’s representatives only to later decide not to use him. Burton of course joins a roster of other “Star Trek” alum to visit the show, with the most famous being Wil Wheaton and the voice of Leonard Nimoy last season.
