It’s pretty to easy to say that Leonard and Penny have had a little bit of an awkward relationship on “The Big Bang Theory” over the years. The two parties started off apart, only to get together and break up again. This past season, the couple (played by Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco) made the decision to get back together and beta-test their relationship, only to later realize that it could work out well. Then, at the end of last season, Leonard went from 0 to 60 in awkwardly proposing marriage while in bed.
So are these two going to recover from this, especially considering how scared they were to commit to another relationship to begin with? Speaking to TVLine in a new interview, executive producer Steve Molaro does at least confirm that the two are going to continue trying to make things:
“Things are a little weird … Leonard’s trying to make things better. His first thought is to have a nice night that’s all about her. And things may not go as planned, shockingly.”
Really, it’s pretty easy to admit that this relationship may be at its best when it is moving slowly along, mostly thanks to the fact that we already have a serious relationship on the show in Howard and Bernadette. One of the reasons why this show is so popular is that there is still a child-like innocence among many of these characters, and seeing them grow up in an adult way would end up jeopardizing that.
Do you think there is any hope for Leonard and Penny to go the distance this time around? We want to hear your thoughts below! While we think that the odds are good these two get together in the end, we would not be stunned at all to see many more bumps in the road along the way.
