At times during the “Jersey Shore” premiere Thursday night, we actually had to ask ourselves if these people were really the same ones that we all knew and loved from Seaside Heights. Snooki’s into fitness, Ronnie and Sammi are actually happy, and Vinny has suddenly become the most important person in the house.
Then, by the end of the episode we were reminded — this is the same “Jersey Shore” that we’ve all watched for the past three seasons. Snooki got lost trying to drvie stick, there was a workout at the gym, and Mike “the Situation” behaved as he always does at the club.
Really, there were three stories during this premiere that we expect to see much more of:
-The Situation’s claims that he and Snooki “hooked up” a few months before filming: If this really happened, why isn’t Snooki talking about it at all? Mike seems deeply troubled thus far, and it could possibly be due to some issues that were happening during the filming (such as some nasty comments by his father in his direction).
-Ronnie and Sammi: How could this not be a fixture of the show? Although they are both single now, there’s no guarantee that it will stay that way. Let’s just hope that if they do rekindle the romance, they do more than just cry all season.
-Deena and Pauly D: They’re a bit mismatched, but they seemed to really enjoy playing tonsil hockey together at the club during this episode. This could amount to nothing, but it will be interesting to see whether or not either of these two let their feelings get in the way of their good time.
What did you think of the premiere, and which story are you most excited about moving forward?
