While we all sit around for the next few weeks or so and wonder with bated breath who is going to be the next star of “The Bachelor,” the man responsible for running the franchise is taking a little bit of an opportunity to poke fun at how crazy and out of control rumors can get when it comes to casting.
In a new post on Twitter less than 24 hours after some scandalous photos of Prince Harry hit the internet, here is what the show’s executive producer in Mike Fleiss had to say about canceling the naughty prince off the list:
“Sadly Prince Harry is no longer being considered as
#Bachelor. A man with a … photo scandal is obviously not looking for a soulmate.”
Of course, the joke here is that Prince Harry was never considered to be the star of the show in a million years — similar to the rumors about Tim Tebow or Ryan Lochte somehow getting the gig. (Lochte has at least expressed some interest, but we still don’t see this happening given his own partying antics in Las Vegas recently — which include a swimming contest against the Prince.)
As for who some of the actual candidates are to end up being the next star of the show, the leading candidates include Roberto Martinez, Sean Lowe, and Arie Luyendyk Jr. — who was the runner-up this past season with Emily Maynard. Despite all of the hype surrounding getting the next big name on the show, the reality is that the producers like to have names that people watching the franchise are familiar with.
