“The X Factor” is inching ever closer to its September 12 premiere on Fox, and with that it is almost at the time when the four judges on the panel are going to really start going strong with a publicity blitz. With Britney Spears and Demi Lovato now on board, hopes are high that the show will be much more of a ratings monster, and also be more entertaining than the uneven and often awkward run of the show the first time around.
So what has surprised Demi the most about this experience this time around? As a part of the promotional tour starting up already all four judges spoke to TV Guide, and the former Disney star-turned pop singer said that she did not really see Britney having the sort of knockout sense of humor that she has:
“I’ve said from Day 1, when [Britney] stepped on set, how funny she is. I don’t think a lot of people have gotten to see her personality and her sense of humor.”
Demi is pretty on the money here with her assessment, as Spears has unfortunately spent a good portion of her adult life shielded from society in some way or another — whether it be through tight restrictions on her interviews or just staying out of the public eye whenever she chooses to do so. However, she has grown more open since filming the reality show, and has started to use her Twitter more to share photos of her private life and talk about her career thus far.
In this same interview, Simon Cowell also said that the reason this panel is going to work better than the one last year is because season 1, thanks in part to his own decision to bring on Paula Abdul, kept the show like “American Idol” and deprived it of a chance to find its own identity.
