On “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” this season, we have had to witness Jacqueline Laurita endure all sorts of drama courtesy of some of her fellow co-stars — whether it be the crumbling of her friendship with Teresa Giudice or her feeling pressure from the likes of Caroline Manzo and Melissa Gorga.
Now, it is being made public that Laurita has been dealing with something even more important at home — her three-year old child Nicholas is suffering from autism. The family first noticed some problems when he was just 18 months old, but decided to keep it a secret from production and some of the other women on the show when they were filming season 4 last year.
Now, Laurita tells People Magazine that she is doing everything she can to try and give him a good life — even though she admits that it is rather difficult to do at times:
“I worry about him being independent when he’s older … I spend all my time researching what we can do for him.”
The lucky thing for the child in this case is that he is born into a family who has the resources available to make his life easier — something that many kids suffering from autism are not offered. It’s unclear if this story will ever be touched on when it comes to the Bravo series, mostly because it’s also unclear whether or not Laurita will return for another go-around. Back near the end of season 3, many felt it was all but confirmed that she would leave the show after skipping the reunion — but she is planning to attend the taping this year and has seemingly become more immersed in the process.
