We have started to get a sense of a number of characters’ storylines on season 4 of “The Vampire Diaries” but one of the characters who is still shrouded in some mystery is Torrey DeVitto’s Meredith Fell. The doctor is really the one responsible for Elena being alive right now — but she is also responsible for her being transformed into a vampire.
Thankfully, we now have a little bit of more information about the character courtesy of executive producer Julie Plec. Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, here is what she had to say on the subject:
“Meredith in the beginning is just trying to keep her head above water, realizing that she’s found herself dropped into this supernatural world she never really meant to get involved with … She has a choice to make: Does she want to dive in head first and embrace it? Or does she want to pull back and say, ‘Hey you know what? Why don’t you guys leave me out of it.’ We’ll be seeing a little bit of her in the beginning of the season.”
The way Plec talks, we are wondering whether or not we are going to see much of this character beyond just the first few episodes of the season. We know that DeVitto does have another job at “Pretty Little Liars,” and it’s unlikely that she will be a regular here because of that. Even if she is not a permanent fixture in season 4, though, we hope that her character will still have opportunities to come back in the future as a human fixture in Mystic Falls. (Doesn’t this show need more humans all things considered?)
