‘The X Factor’: One Direction member Zayn Malik deletes Twitter

We have some new Twitter controversy brewing, and it in this case is all about one of the members of “X Factor” sensation One Direction. The British pop supergroup has been dominating the social-networking site along with Justin Bieber, but they had some sad news break Tuesday when band member Zayn Malik made the decision to delete his account to the surprise of many.

So what’s the reason for this move? It’s hard to say thus far, but one of the reasons that is being claimed for his decision is some of the hate that he received on his account on a regular basis. This is supposedly what Malik tweeted just before getting rid of the account:

“The reason i don’t tweet as much as i use to, is because I’m sick of all the useless opinions and hate that I get daily goodbye twitter :).”

Ultimately, this is one of the downsides to being a teen idol. While you have a number of innocent fans who merely say nice things and put posters of you on your wall, there are also some people who watch your every move and say terrible things about you. It’s a lot to take, especially when you are a young person who has went from being a virtual unknown to an international superstar in the mater of weeks. It’s possible that he will eventually come back — but if he does, it could just be to promote projects similar to another former teen idol in Justin Timberlake.

What do you think about Zayn getting rid of his account? Be sure and share some of your thoughts below! To check out more news from the premiere of “The X Factor” earlier this year, be sure and hit up the link here.
