We weren’t sure how much more in the way of “Game of Thrones” casting here was to announce following the booking of Mance Rayder late last week, but we now have two additional names to add to the rather extensive list of characters who are going to be turning up on the show for the first time for season 3.
These two names were first announced by show site Winter Is Coming.
Ed Skrein – For our first casting, we actually have someone who is more well-known for his history in music than in acting. Ed Skrein has worked with a number of popular groups over the years (including Plan B), and has only moved into acting in recent years.
Skrein will be playing the part of Daario Naharis — who is a tough and cunning sellsword who comes in contact with Daenerys Targeryan during her adventures this coming season.
Jacob Anderson – Unlike Skrein, most of Anderson’s past experience in show business comes via the world of acting. He has appeared in such programs as “Episodes” and “Skins,” and here he will be taking on a role that is certainly deadly in is own way.
Anderson’s character is known as Grey Worm, and he is the leaders of a batch of eunuch slave soldiers known as the Unsullied. Think of them as being able to do with weapons what Varys does with words.
We don’t know how many episodes these two actors are going to appear, but their presence should at least help to give the world of Westeros — which has been replicated well thus far in terms of its scale — even more depth.
What do you think about these castings? “Game of Thrones” will return to HBO on March 31, and you can check out another recent casting over at this link.
