‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4: Paul Wesley on hopes for Elena, Stefan

Paul Wesley has spoken out a number of times as of late about “The Vampire Diaries,” and every time he says some rather surprising things. His latest claim? That he is not entirely sure that Stefan is the best choice for Elena to end up with at the end of the day.

As a part of a recent chat with Digital Spy, here is what Wesley had to say on this very subject:

“I definitely don’t think that Elena belongs with a vampire, to be honest with you … I think that her love with Stefan is an undying romance that will exist forever, but I don’t know if the circumstances allow for them to end up together.

“I think that’s just sort of a romanticised point of view… Nobody ever just ends up happy ever after when you have vampires and werewolves running around!”

As for what Wesley actually wants to see Stefan do instead of be with Elena (at least for the time being), he claims that it would be interesting to see both he and his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) actually try to move on with their lives for a while without Elena — mostly because it would be interesting to see how they reacted to being in a completely different situation than they have been for most of the series. Would it be interesting? Sure — just so long as one of them finds their way back to her by the end of the show’s run.

Do you think that it would do the show some good to move away from Elena, Stefan, and Damon as a love triangle? Be sure and share some of your thoughts below! To check out some more of the latest news related to Wesley, be sure and hit up the link here.
