Outside of some basic details about some of the early episodes of season 4, “The Vampire Diaries” is still very much shrouded in mystery when it comes to what is going to happen in the weeks that follow. Will Elena stay a vampire? Is Bonnie going to turn fully to the dark side? These are just some of the questions that are current nagging at us.
When it comes to Paul Wesley, he is already doing his part to express what he would like to see happen over the rest of this season — and it is pretty much in line with our own opinion as a fan. Speaking in a new interview with Digital Spy, here is what the actor had to say:
“I sure as hell hope [Ripper Stefan will return] … I think it would be foolish of them not to bring the Ripper back… I think the work that I did was much more profound in terms of affecting the audience than the other stuff. The other stuff was great too, but I just selfishly enjoyed the hell out of it.”
That enjoyment was not lost on the audience, and at this point we have to be honest and say that Stefan is far more interesting when he is not just the token good guy doing what everyone would want or expect for him to do. Instead, he brings more to the table as someone who is ruthless and unstable, but also has a soft spot in their heart and wants to be able to love and feel something more. We certainly have no problem with there being love between him and Elena — we just don’t want him to lose some of that primal side in the process.
