Given the demand for video of Adam Lambert’s performance at the Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo this weekend, we’re forgoing the typical edition of “American Idol” notes to present a video from the event courtesy of one very kind fan of the season 8 star.
During the festival Adam performed a set of songs that showed off a little bit of his funk / pop sensibilities perfectly — “Kickin In'” (which is not a song that we hear live very often), “Shady,” and the title track of his album “Trespassing.” The later song is the one that he performed on Japanese TV a little bit earlier in the week, and it’s the one that also received the largest reaction from the crowd.
Adam is of course in the country to promote his latest release, and it is a city that he has professed as one of his favorites to visit given the culture, nightlife, and fashion options that are available there. It also has that perfect mix of far east tradition and modern sensibilities — in some ways even more modern than life is in America. He is not going to get much time to relax in Tokyo, though, as he is heading off now to Osaka for a performance there on Sunday (at least per his schedule online).
“Trespassing” is of course in stores here in America, and we are waiting for the announcement of his next single — which he promised will be coming up at some point in the near (but not necessarily immediate) future.
What do you think about this performance? We want to hear some of your thoughts below! If you want to check out another recent video of Adam Lambert singing in Japan, be sure and head over to the link here.
