We now know officially one of the first Lea Michele numbers on season 4 of “Glee,” and it is going to be something that very much pays homage to the city of her current residence. However, what is a bit more of a surprise is that she is going to not only be singing it with someone else, but it will be one of the new people over at McKinley High School.
According to a report from TVLine, Michele will be performing the classic Billy Joel hit “New York State of Mind,” and scenes of her singing the song will be spliced against the new character Marley (Melissa Benoist) doing the same thing back in Lima, Ohio. We don’t really know much about this new character just yet, although we can at least say that they are going to be potentially involved in with Jacob Artist’s new character of Jake Puckerman — after all, executive producer Ryan Murphy hinted on Twitter a while back that “Jarley” was going to be a couple that many people want to talk about in the same way as Finn and Rachel or Kurt and Blaine.
This performance will happen during the first two episodes of the season, though we would personally not be surprised if it is the premiere given how the second episode is supposed to be the newest Britney Spears tribute. (However, we should note that there were two songs in the first Spears episode that were not done by her — including Paramore’s “The Only Exception,” which went on to be a major hit.)
