On September 28, the fifth and final season of “Fringe” is set to debut with new episodes — and based on the brand-new teaser trailer released by Fox, we are going to be in for a wild ride with the final 13 episodes.
When it comes to story, the clip does not reveal much outside of giving us a glimpse into the war that is coming with the Observers — the people traveling back in time in order to take away a world that their ancestors played a part in helping to destroy. For those of you who are loyal fans, you already know that this episode will be very much tied to the “Letters of Transit” episode that aired near the end of season 4 — and thus provided us the perfect glimpse into this future world (though thankfully, Olivia is going to have much more of a role this time around).
Most of the specific plot details about this season are still shrouded in mystery and will likely remain that way in the weeks ahead — including whether or not Henry Ian Cusick (who has plenty of history with J.J. Abrams courtesy of “Lost”) is going to come back here and reprise his role from the “Transit” episode. Thanks in part to holidays and baseball, it is unlikely that the show will come to a close in 2012 — with that being said, we should see an end to Joshua Jackson and company within the first two months of 2013.
