Twitter is going to play a major role in this Thursday afternoon edition of “American Idol” notes, as everything that we are talking about is coming courtesy of the social-networking site. However, it’s all information that is certainly worthy of discussion — beginning with the end of some Phillip Phillips controversy.
Is Phillip at war with his label? – Following a retweet on his account that looked like it was an attack on corporations for destroying individuality (and some messages from sources), there were rumors that our reigning champ was fighting with the folks at Interscope about the direction he wanted to take with his album — which we expect to have some of given that Phillips is someone who fights for what he believes in (and this is certainly not a bad thing).
However, Phillip sought to correct the issue Thursday by saying that much of this drama has ultimately been blown way out of proportion:
“there is no battle between the label and I. just making it clear ha just a whole bunch of internet say so”
Will there be some give and take here? Sure, as the record label has to try and get some more of Phillip’s music on the radio. However, we have a feeling that the end result will contain elements that both parties are happy with.
A Haley Reinhart reminder – For those of you who did not know, Haley’s new single “Oh My!” (featuring B.o.B) is going to be included in Thursday night’s new episode of “Rookie Blue.” You always have to cheer for exposure — heck, just look at what it did for Phillip’s “Home” at the Olympics.
Scotty starts off college – Finally, we have to close here with a comment about how Scotty McCreery is handling his early days at NC State — which he made the decision to attend earlier in the year so that he could further his education while also pursuing his musical dreams:
“been a good couple days getting settled in to college.. but now its time for a good weekend of shows!”
