‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4: More hype over the season premiere

When the season premiere of “The Vampire Diaries” airs on October 11, you are going to have plenty of reasons to be excited — at least according to the woman responsible for steering the ship.

Speaking in a new post on Twitter, executive producer Julie Plec had the following to say about what she has season of the season premiere — and while she is certainly biased as the showrunner, this level of excitement does bode well for the rest of us:

“Just caught my first glimpse at Episode 401. Holy sh-tballs, you guys, you’re gonna freak out. I’m so so so so proud.”

There is, after all, a number of reasons to be proud if this episode gets right what is a pretty difficult thing to do — monitoring the transition from Elena from a human into a vampire. On a show with so many supernatural characters, finding a way to add another one while still keeping an element of humanity is going to be a tough task. Hopefully, it will be one that the show is able to pull off well. The good news to along with this is that there are a number of other exciting stories coming up — including Klaus’ adventures inside of Tyler’s body and Bonnie trying to cope with the changing world around her along with what Esther forced her into doing near the end of last season. Add some new characters into the mix — including a vampire hunter with a ruthless attitude (though he will not show up until episode 2) — and you have the makings of a great year.
