Do you want to know what is coming up on the season 8 premiere of “How I Met Your Mother“? Thanks to a new press release from CBS, we now have a pretty good idea.
As we have previously reported, this episode is going to be entitled “Farhampton,” and is going to start off right away with some anxiety of Barney and Robin’s wedding day at some point in the future:
“Robin’s anxiety on her wedding day to Barney prompts Ted to recount the time he insisted on leaving Victoria’s jilted fiancé a note before they drove off into the sunset together.”
This episode is also confirmed to feature three major guest stars — Thomas Lennon (as Victoria’s jilted lover Klaus), Michael Trucco (as Robin’s “crush,” who now has a name in Nick), and of course Ashley Williams as Victoria herself. While this may be Lemmon’s only appearance, both of the other two actors are going to be back for multiple episodes throughout the early stages of this season. What is particularly interesting about this episode is that despite being Barney’s new fiancee in the present day, Becki Newton is not listed as a guest star here. Therefore, it’s likely that she doesn’t appear here — it’s either that or she is just not included in the release for whatever reason. We know that she does still have some time left on the show, though, as the writers have to explain what led her and Barney to break up, that way he can propose to Robin at some point down the road.
This premiere will air on Monday, September 24 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time on CBS — and now, all we are waiting to find out is just whether or not this is the start of season 8, or the beginning of the show’s final season.
