Even though it may not be a traditional comedy by any means, “New Girl” is going to be doing something this coming season that is rather traditional when it comes to the comedy world — introducing someone’s parents during the second season of the show.
According to a report from TVLine, producers are currently looking for a pair of perfect actors to take on the role of Jess’ parents, who are going to be involved someone in the Thanksgiving episode this year. Considering that last hear had Justin Long and plenty of hilariousness, we have a feeling that the show is going to have its work cut out for it.
Really, the question that we have here is how the show is going to be able to make this happen while keeping its lighthearted tone intact. Often, one of the biggest problems comedies face with episodes featuring parents is that it changes the chemistry, and also sometimes feels like a gimmick just to introduce some guest stars rather than focusing on the story. “The Big Bang Theory” is one of the noteworthy examples of this, as some of their episodes featuring their parents (as great of an actress as Christine Baranski may be) are among the worst that the series has put on over the years. With all this being said, we are pretty curious to find out who raised someone like Jess to be the way that she is.
Who do you want to see in these roles, and are there any other parents that you want to meet at some point soon? (Put us down for Schmidt.) If you want to see who is going to be romancing Jess on this coming season, be sure to check out the story over here.
