“Glee” has just released their first-ever promo for their fourth season, and we can say almost immediately that there is a major surprise thrown into the mix in the famous choir room.
As you can see in the season’s first promo (which was released by Fox and showrunner Ryan Murphy on Wednesday afternoon), it looks as though Alex Newell’s character of Wade / Unique is crossing over from Vocal Adrenaline and will be auditioning now for New Directions. Why else would he be in the choir room? We really don’t have any idea. (Unfortunately, the first comment thrown in his direction is a zinger courtesy of Brittany.)
When it comes to story, there really is not much else in here that is clear — even though we do have our first clip of Kate Hudson as Rachel’s dance teacher along with the first look at the interior of NYADA. This is going to be a year of change for “Glee,” but what this promo seems to be trying to do is remind us at the same time that there is really not going to be as much change as you would initially think given the New York setting and how so many of the old students are now all across the United States chasing their dreams.
Overall, we have to say that there is still plenty of promise here — the show looks funny, Rachel has a new challenge, and New Directions is going to go from being top dogs to the underdogs again in a split second without so many of their featured vocalists.
