There’s some breaking news coming out of Hollywood, and it could impact more than just “The Big Bang Theory” — it may also change Mayim Bialik’s life.
According to TMZ, the “Blossom” star was riding alone in a white Volvo around noon local time Wednesday when she was struck at an intersection by a car reportedly driven by a group of tourists from Chile. Bialik was taken to the hospital immediately so that her injuries could be treated, but the scariest one seems to be her finger. Reports are that there was a “ton of blood” on the crime scene, and that her finger was hurt so badly it was nearly torn off of her hand. There’s no word yet as to the state of the injury now, but it is possible that she could lose her finger altogether.
It seems silly at this moment to speculate about someone’s future on a TV show while her health is of such a concern, but what we will tell you right now is that “The Big Bang Theory” started shooting its first episodes of season 6 earlier this week. Bialik is up for an Emmy for her role of Amy Farrah Fowler, which she has played for a couple of years now since debuting in a season finale as a woman that Sheldon’s friends found for him online. She has not only won praise for her role, but has served as an example that a former child star can still find success in this business after going away for a few years to start a family.
This is breaking news, and of course we are going to have some more updates as soon as they are available. For now, let’s just say that our thoughts are with Biliak for a speedy recovery.
Update: Bialik just tweeted out that she’s not going to lose a finger due to the crash: “In pain but will keep all my fingers. If u wanna See pre accident me watch The Soup tonight lol”
