There are a plethora of new characters coming on board “Once Upon a Time” for season 2 — whether it be Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, or even Lancelot from Arthurian lore — but it’s hard to deny that the character many are over the moon about at the moment is Captain Hook. He was the character that was shown off during the panel discussion at Comic-Con, and it was just revealed recently that Irish actor Colin O’Donoghue had earned the honor of taking on the role.
So is his reign of terror beginning? It sure sounds like it. In a post on Twitter, here is what O’Donoghue had to say:
“Time to strap on the hook!!!!”
Does this really mean that much in the grand scheme of things? Not really, but it is yet another reason to get a little bit excited about the road that is coming up ahead. We know that Hook will appear in at least a handful of season 2 episodes, and there is potential for even more appearances down the road depending on how well he is received and what the story allows. ABC is also looking to do everything that they can at the moment to promote the character, as they have also opted to feature him in some of their brand-new promos (including the one you can see below). It doesn’t really offer anything new in comparison to the teaser from Comic-Con, but it does compress the grand Hook reveal until an exciting 30 seconds. (This was filmed before O’Donoghue was cast in the part.)
Season 2 of “Once Upon a Time” will officially premiere on ABC Sunday, September 30 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. Is Hook the character you are the most excited about, even if he does not debut until a few episodes in? Be sure to share your thoughts below! If you want to read some more thoughts on the season via Jared Gilmore (Henry), be sure and check out the story here.
