There’s some sad news coming out of Hollywood this morning. According to a new report from TMZ, actress Annette Charles passed away due to complications from cancer Wednesday night in her Los Angeles area home. She was 63 years old.
While Charles appeared on a number of television shows including the original “Bionic Woman,” “Gunsmoke,” and “The Mod Squad” early in her career, she was best known for her role as Cha Cha in the 1978 John Travolta / Olivia Newton-John musical classic “Grease.” Following that part, Charles never seemed to have much in the way of consistent work — she had a brief role on the “Incredible Hulk” TV series, and her last credited job as an actress came in a 1987 episode of “Magnum P.I..”
Here’s what one of Charles’ family members had to say about the passing:
“Annette had recently started having difficulty breathing … and when she went to the doctor she learned that she had a cancerous tumor in one of her lungs.”
Charles will be missed.
