There are some characters on TV that are often difficult to get a good read on — and when it comes to “The Vampire Diaries” and Damon Salvatore, he is clearly one of them. During the first two seasons of the hit CW show, Damon was clearly the guy that everyone looked at as someone bound to cause all sorts of trouble — but then, we saw him soften up a little bit during the third season as Stefan started to go off the rails a little bit.
So what side of Damon are we going to see during season 4? Ian Somerhalder has already said that we are going to see him become a little bit more unhinged, but Paul Wesley (otherwise known as Stefan) took an opportunity to have a little bit of fun at his co-star’s expense by playing up Damon’s sensitive side in a chat with The Huffington Post:
“We all want to be bad boys and he’s getting a lot more empathetic. He’s crying a lot lately, he’s very sensitive.”
We are actually going to see a little bit of balance with Damon this year — he is going to have that caring side now that Elena knows just how much he feels for her (and she deals with some of the feelings that she has for him). Meanwhile, he is also going to act out a little bit in frustration with the fact that Elena chose to be with Stefan in the long-term rather than him.
As for which side will prevail here, we have just over two months until we will find out. “The Vampire Diaries” will officially kick off new episodes on Thursday, October 11 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.
