To kick off this work week when it comes to “American Idol” notes, we have some more news when it comes to Phillip Phillips — and we’ll end with a fun video when it comes to Adam Lambert and some comments from Jordin Sparks.
“Home” hits #1 again – The Olympic run for the season 11 champ’s coronation song was not over on Sunday night, as the song rose to the top of the iTunes sales charts again as NBC used it in a retrospective about the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team and their journey to nab the gold medal as a team. This is what caused the song to rise up the sales charts to begin with, and this may not help to keep it from falling too hard on the Billboard Hot 100 Thursday after hitting a new peak in #9 this past week.
In other news, Phillip may have the best publicists known to man.
Adam Lambert tweets something amazing – We try not to both anytime and every time that a celebrity tweets out or talks about something that they like, but this is just so cool that it’s impossible to ignore.
In a post over the weekend, Adam shared this cover of “If I Had You” by 13-year old Blake Fitzpatrick — and it’s awesome. There’s some dancing, some pretty good vocals, and a really nice message about taking on bullies. We also give Blake extra credit for picking one of our favorite Adam songs.
Jordin Sparks talks Whitney Houston – With the move “Sparkle” coming out, we know that Jordin Sparks is going to be featured all over the place as she talks about her relationship with Whitney Houston on her last film project before her tragic death earlier this year. The latest stop? “Nightline,” where she told the show the following about how she first learned the news about Houston’s passing:
“I couldn’t handle it … I was like, you’re lying, you’re lying to me. So, we were like, OK, well, let’s turn on the news. If it’s there, then maybe that’s confirmed it.”
You can check out a trailer for “Sparkle” below.
