‘The Vampire Diaries’: Paul Wesley, wife Torrey DeVitto land hosting gig

The cast of “The Vampire Diaries” is not only close-knit on set, but many of them also share similar passions away from the set when it comes to giving back to the world — especially when it comes to taking care of animals and the environment. Ian Somerhalder’s commitment is pretty well-documented already courtesy of his foundation, and now Paul Wesley and his wife Torrey DeVitto (who plays Dr. Meredith Fell on the show) are going to be putting on their hosting hats for The Humane Society of the United States’ H-Couture 2012. The event is a fashion show benefiting the animal rights organization, and it will be held on September 22 a a private estate in Brentwood, California, and is going to feature all sorts of great designs that are not harmful to animals in any way.

Both Paul and Torrey have each released a statement when it comes to their participation in the show:

Paul – “We are excited to be hosting the first ever H-Couture event on behalf of The Humane Society of the United States because we both support events that promote compassion for animals.”

Torrey – “Fashion should be fun, and I don’t see how wearing animal fur can be anything other than cruel and unnecessary. This event will show that anyone can be fashion-conscious without animals having to pay the price.”

Somerhalder has been previously acknowledged by the organization in the past — and for Paul and his wife here, this should really just be a great opportunity for them to have a little bit of fun while raising some money for a great cause.
