‘American Idol’ notes: Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert, Colton Dixon

For our Friday morning edition of “American Idol” notes, we are kicking things off with some more news courtesy of what a few former contestants are going to be up to courtesy of a new charity event.

Who’s giving back? – As a part of the massive Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Labor Day weekend entertainment special (which has been changed from is original form as a telethon), we are going to see three popular former contestants appear.

In a new press release, it was announced that we will see appearances from the likes of Carrie Underwood, Ace Young, and his now-fiancee Diana DeGarmo. The show is now called “MDA Show of Strength,” and will air on multiple television stations across the country beginning on Sunday, September 2 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Here is what MDA Interim President Valerie Cwik, M.D. had to say:

“We couldn’t be more excited about the show and the incredible talent we have lined up this year … MDA is in business to save and enhance lives. Our show will both entertain and urge the American public to answer the call to support critically important research and services for more than a million Americans affected by neuromuscular diseases.”

More from Adam on “Pretty Little Liars” – It’s not much of a tease, but here is some more information via The Hollywood Reporter about the Halloween special of “Pretty Little Liars” — which features Adam Lambert in a guest role — courtesy of Alison DiLaurentis herself in Sasha Pieterse:

Adam Lambert makes an appearance, which was such a shock to us because he is so amazing! … And the only other thing I can say is that it takes place on a train. And it’s crazy shocking!”

We have heard that Adam will perform “Cuckoo” and “Trespassing” during the special (which is more of a standalone episode), and he will also film a few scenes with Lucy Hale.

Colton speaks out – Finally, let’s close with a video featuring Colton Dixon, Skylar Laine, and Heejun Han With Glittarazzi that contains a few fun thoughts about Washington DC — as well as Colton admitting that he is spending most of his free time listening to himself sing at the moment.

Good times.
