According to a report from TVLine, a personal favorite is going to be heading on board the show this season in Rob Corddry. The former “Daily Show” correspondent (who is also appearing on “Children’s Hospital” over on Adult Swim) has signed on for a multi-episode arc, where he will play the character of a car dealership owner who is so popular, he has even earned himself a ridiculously over-the-top nickname — the “car czar.”
So how does fit it with the story? Basically, Jane is going to be tagging along to help Penny purchase a car at his dealership, and he becomes so impressed with her knowledge that he ends up hiring her. Will this employment last forever? Probably not, but we have no problem with seeing as much of Rob as possible while the show has him around.
Over its past two seasons “Happy Endings” has established itself as a critical darling, and developed a core audience following “Modern Family” in ABC’s Wednesday-night lineup. However, it faces a new challenge in moving to Tuesday nights at 9:00 p.m. Eastern following the “Dancing with the Stars” results show — it’s a new lead-in, and it’s also a lead-in of a very different type. The show is also going to be up against a number of comedy shows competing against it at the same time, including “New Girl” on Fox and the new Matthew Perry series “Go On” on NBC — which debuted to strong numbers after the Olympics Wednesday night.
