Ryan Murphy continues to be the Twitter gift that keeps on giving, and on Thursday the executive producer decided to unveil a scene from the end of “Glee” last season that is a tear-jerker — it just somehow did not end up making it to air thanks to all of the other tear-jerkers that were also a part of this graduation-themed hour.
The scene here starts out being between Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), who is concerned hat her boyfriend is going to run off to Chicago and meet a bunch of ballerinas that he is going to fall in love with. He reassures her that this is no going to be the case, and that everything is going to work out just fine. (To see if Shum thinks that this is really going to be the case with Mike and Tina, take a look at this story.)
Immediately following this brief moment, Mike’s parents enter the picture with a bit of a surprise — despite their initial hesitation towards their son being a dancer (particularly on the part of the father), they are starting up a fund to help other families of Asian-American descent try and support their children interesting in getting careers in the arts. It’s certainly not the sort of happy ending that always happens in real life, but it does serve as a nice bookend to this character — who was not necessarily confirmed for season 4 at the time that this script was likely first written.
Murphy has promised plenty more in the way of unseen footage for the rest of the summer, so stay tuned — we’ll have more as soon as it is posted.
