‘The Big Bang Theory,’ ‘Parks and Recreation’ stars land new gig

The Big Bang Theory” and “Parks and Recreation” are two of the most popular series on television, and now some of their stars are going to do your best to inspire you to “do something” — at least in the form of a VH1 Awards show.

According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, the following four actors are all set to preset at the 2012 Do Something Awards, which will tape on August 19 and air two nights later on the cable network:

-“Big Bang Theory” star Simon Helberg, otherwise known as Howard Wolowitz

-Kristen Bell (“House of Lies”) and her celebrity husband Dax Shepard

-“Parks and Recreation” star Adam Scott

These people are going to join “Twilight” actress Ashley Greene and “American Idol” alum Jordin Sparks, who is currently geting set to release her third studio album after winning season 6 of the hit reality show.

The Do Something Awards take a different approach to most awards show in that they choose to highlight people who are doing more than just produce art — they are working to give back to the community. Last year, the show made headlines thanks to it being the television premiere of Demi Lovato’s single “Skyscraper” — a ballad that was inspirational both to her and many of her fans. One of the show’s past hosts is “Glee’s” Jane Lynch — who used this as a way to prepare for her gig at the Emmys.
