We already knew that Arsenio Hall was going to get his much-anticipated return to late night next year, but what we did not know until now is that just about every major market in television is going to get the opportunity to watch him.
In a new statement by CBS’ President of Sales Joe DiSalvo, the updated “Arsenio Hall Show” has sold in 85 percent of the country and in all 50 of tthe country’s biggest markets:
“From the day we announced our deal with Arsenio Hall, the response from stations has been overwhelming … Most have given the show prime real estate as the lead out from their local late newscasts. They recognize the potential to have the next breakout hit in late night.”
For “The Celebrity Apprentice” champ, this news is great in that it gives him an opportunity to succeed from the get-to. Often with late night, your most-popular shows are the first ones since you don’t get the same sort of buzz after that. What we are curious about in this cast, though is how he is going to go about promoting it. We don’t know if other late-night shows are going to want to put him on and promote their own competition, so he may have to rely more on morning shows and other daytime programming a little later in the day for press.
Fall 2013 seems to be the current launch date for this show, and you can expect it to turn up in some major markets on CW affiliates — which has some distinct ties to CBS on its own.
Are you excited to watch Arsenio’s show, or are you more concerned that the long layoff between his season of “Celebrity Apprentice” and the premiere is going to lead to people forgetting about it?
